New Delhi : India logged 3,29,942 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, down from 3,66,161 cases on May 10, 2021, taking the tally to 2,29,92,517 cases in the country at 8 am on May 11, 2021. In a major development, after several weeks single day recoveries exceeded the number of new cases on May 11. A total of 3,56,082 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours taking the tally of patients cured so far to 1,90,27,304 on May 11, 2021, up from 3,53,818 on May 10. India also recorded 3,876 new deaths in last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,49,992 deaths in the country on May 11, 2021.
Active cases climbed to 37,15,221 in India on May 11, 2021, down from 37,45,237 cases on May 10, 2021, a decease of 30,016 cases in last 24 hours, and accounted for 16.16% of the Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India. India has so far tested 30,56,00,187 samples so far including 18,50,110 samples on May 10, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 17,27,10,066 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 25,03,756 beneficiaries on May 10, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients improved to 82.75% in the country on May 11, 2021, from 82.39% on May 10.
The 3,876 new deaths due to Covid-19 in the country included 596 in Karnataka, 549 in Maharashtra, 319 in Delhi, 278 in Uttar Pradesh, 232 in Tamilnadu, 198 in Punjab, 172 in Chhattisgarh, 168 in Uttarakhand, 161 in Haryana, 160 in Rajasthan, 134 in West Bengal, 129 in Jharkhand, 117 in Gujarat, 84 in Andhra Pradesh, 81 in Madhya Pradesh, 75 in Bihar, and 50 in Goa. India had recorded 3,754 new deaths on May 10, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Covid-19 death toll in India on May 11, 2021, was : Maharashtra (76,398), Tamilnadu (15,880), Karnataka (19,372), Delhi (19,663), Andhra Pradesh (8,791), Uttar Pradesh (15,742), West Bengal (12,461), Gujarat (8,511), Madhya Pradesh (6,501), Rajasthan (5,825), Punjab (10,704), Telengana (2,771), J&K (2,782), Haryana (5,766), Bihar (3,357), Odisha (2,197), Jharkhand (3,982), Assam (1,753), Uttarakhand (3,896), Kerala (5,879), Chhattisgarh (10,742), Puducherry (988), Goa (1,729), Tripura (413), Chandigarh (575), Andaman & Nicobar (78), Himachal Pradesh (1,938), Ladakh (157), Manipur (489), Nagaland (150), Meghalaya (233), Arunachal Pradesh (64), Sikkim (169), Mizoram (22), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (4), and Lakshadweep (10).
