Ara : Police cracked the recent dacoity at Pirauta Branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) under Ara Muffasil police station (PS) by arresting seven out of nine criminals including three on May 4, 2021. Police also recovered Rs 1.63 lakh out of Rs 2.38 lakh looted from the bank though one miscreant is still absconding. Police also seized one pistol of 7.65 mm caliber, two magazines, four live cartridges of 7.65 mm caliber, three mobile phones, two countrymade pistols, one live cartridge, and two motorcycles used in the crime.

The arrested miscreants included Sujit Kumar alias Tengar, son of Dilbag Paswan of Housing Colony, Chowkipur, Chandawa under Nawada police station, Himanshu Singh, son of Manoj Singh of Neknam Tola under Barhara police station, and Ashish Yadav, son of Naval Kishore Yadav of Gausganj under Ara town police station in Bhojpur district. Police had already arrested four liners and sent them to jail. One of the miscreants Ajit Kumar is still absconding.

Bhojpur SP Rakesh Kumar Dubey on May 4, 2021, said that some armed miscreants had looted Rs 2.38 lakh from Pirauta Branch of Punjab National Bank under Ara Muffassil police station in the district on April 27, 2021, at gun point and when the villagers gheraoed them, the miscreants opened fire to escape in which one of their aides Abhishek Kumar was injured and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Patna. An FIR was lodged with Ara Muffassil police station on the written complaint of the Branch Manager, PNB, in connection with the incident.

The SP said that he took it as challenge and formed a police team under the DSP (Probation) Jitesh Pandey. During investigation, it came to light that nine miscreants were involved in bank dacoity. Four miscreants were working as liners outside the bank while five armed miscreants entered the bank and looted RsĀ  2.38 lakh from the cash counter.

The SP further said that police team conducted raids at different places in Ara and Patna and through mobile surveillance arrested Sujit Kumar Tengar of Chandawa and Himanshu Singh of Neknam Tola first and later Ashish Yadav of Gausganj.
