New Delhi : The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and Board of Control for CRicket in India (BCCI), an an emergency meeting on May 4, 2021, unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season with immediate effect.

It may be mentioned here that two Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had tested positive for Covid-19 on May 3, 2021, after which the 30th IPL match between KKR and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was rescheduled. On May 4, 2021, the 31st match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and SRH was postponed due to Covid-19.
