Patna : With the spike continuing at a scaring pace, India logged 4,01,993 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours crossing the 4 lakh mark on a single day for the first time since the disease broke out in India in early 2020 taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,91,64,969 at 8 am on May 1, 2021. . On the positive side, a total of 2,99,988 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged on a single day, also the highest on a single day, taking the tally to 1,56,84,406 on May 1, 2021. India also recorded 3,523 new deaths in last 24 hours.
Active cases surged to 32,68,710 in India on May 1, 2021, an increase of 98,482 cases in last 24 hours. The country has tested 28,63,92,086 samples so far including 19,20,107 samples on April 30, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 15,22,45,179 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 22,24,548 beneficiaries on April 30, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure..
The Covid-19 death toll jumped to 2,11,853 in India on May 1, 2021, with 3,523 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 828 in Maharashtra, 375 in Delhi, 332 in Uttar Pradesh, 269 in Chhattisgarh, 217 in Karnataka, 122 in Uttarakhand, 120 in Jharkhand, 113 in Tamilnadu, and 80 in Bihar. India had recorded 3,498 new deaths on April 30, 2021.
