Patna :  Mumbai Indians (MI) scored a modest 131/6 in 20 overs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 17th match of IPL 2021 at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamilnadu, on April 23, 2021, as captain Rohit Sharma (opener) scored 63 in 52 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes while Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 in 27 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. Rohit was not at his explosive best but played a very responsible knock.  Pandya brothers : Hardik and Krunal, failed again. PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl.

Batting first, MI had terrible start losing the wicket of opener Quinton de Kock for 3 and it was 7/1. Ishan Kishan continued his flop show. He fell to leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi for 6 making it 26/2. Rohit and Sryakumar Yadav then added 79 runs for the third wicket. Both fell in quick succession. Suryakumar fell to Bishnoi for 33 on the first ball of 17th over over and it was 105/3. Rohit fell to fast medium bowler Mohammad Shami for 63 and it was 112/4 after 17.3 overs.

Hardik Pandya fell to fast medium bowler Arshdeep Singh for 1 and it was 122/5. Krunal Pandya fell to Shami for 3 making it 130/6. Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 16 in 12 balls hitting 1 six.
