New Delhi : With the awful spike continuing, India logged a total of 3,32,730 new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,62,63,695 at 8 am on April 23, 2021. India had logged 3,14,835 new Covid-19 cases on April 22, 2021. The silver lining is altogether 1,93,279 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,36,48,159 on April 23, 2021. On April 22, 2021, a total of 1,78,841 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country. Meanwhile, the recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients further dropped to 83.92 % in India on April 23 from 84.46% on April 22, 2021.
Active cases jumped to 24,28,616 in India on April 23, 2021, a huge jump of 1,37,188 cases in last 24 hours, and account for 14.93 % of the total Covid-19 cases (1,62,63,695) recorded in the country. India has tested 27,44,45,653 samples so far including 17,40,550 samples on April 22, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 13,54,78,420 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 31,47,782 beneficiaries on April 22, 2021.
The Covid-19 death toll rose to 1,86,920 in India on April 23, 2021, with 2,263 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours. The new deaths included 568 in Maharashtra, 306 in Delhi, 207 in Chhattisgarh, 195 in Uttar Pradesh, 137 in Gujarat, 123 in Karnataka, 106 in Jharkhand, 75 in Madhya Pradesh, 75 in Punjab, 59 in Tamilnadu, 59 in Rajasthan, 59 in Bihar, 56 in West Bengal, 55 in Haryana, 31 in Andhra Pradesh,29 in Telengana, 28 in Kerala, 21 in Goa, 19 in Uttarakhand, and 18 in Himachal Pradesh. India had recorded 2,104 new deaths on April 22, 2021. Meanwhile, the case fatality rate dropped to 1.15% in India on April 23 from 1.16% on April 22, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
