Chasing a target of 151 runs, SRH were bundled out for just 137 runs with openers David Warner (captain) and Jonny Bairstow scoring 36 runs and 43 runs respectively. SRH were cruising along as Warner and Bairstow added 67 runs for the first wicket in just 7.2 overs. Bairstow fell hit wicket to Krunal Pandya for 43 in 22 balls hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes making it 67/1. Manish Pandey fell to Rahul Chahar for zero and it was 71/2. Warner was run out by Hardik Pandya for 36 in 34 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes and it was 90/3 after 11.3 overs.
Virat Singh fell to Chahar for 11 and it was 102/4 after14.1 overs. Abhishekh Sharma also fell to Chahar for 2 making it 104/5. Abdul Samad, who is known for big hittings, was run by Hardik Pandya for 7 and it was 129/6. Spinner Rashid Khan fell lbw to Trent Boult for zero and it was 130/7. Earlier, batting first, MI had scored 150/5 with Quinton de Kock scoring 43 and captain Rohit Sharma scoring 36 runs. All-rounder Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 35 in 22 balls hitting 1 four and 3 sixes. Pollard’s 2 sixes on successive balls in last over bowled by Bhuvaneshwar Prasad proved to be the difference between the two sides. Both the teams had good start but faltered in later stage.
