Patna : Active cases jumped to 33,465 in Bihar including 11,155 in Patna on April 16, 2021, as a total of 6,253 more persons including 1,564 from Patna, 390 from Gaya, 386 from Bhagalpur, 303 from Muzaffarpur, 257 from Begusarai, 182 from Aurangabad, 159 from Jehanabad, 158 from Gopalganj, 144 from East Champaran, 142 from Bhojpur, 117 from Nalanda, and 97 from Arwal, tested positive for Covid-19 on April 15, 2021.
The 6,253 new cases also included 175 from Munger, 157 from Purnia, 144 from East Champaran, 117 from Vaishali, 115 from Saharsa, 58 from Banka, 56 from Araria, 52 from Madhepura, 50 from Mahubani, and 29 from Buxar.
With this, the Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar rose to 3,07,557 cases of which 2,72,403 patients have been declared cured including 1,853 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) further dropping to 88.57% on April 16 from 89.79% on April 15, 2021. The number of Active cases in Bihar was 29,078 on April 15, 2021. Bihar has tested 2,50,45,280 samples so far including 1,00,404 samples on April 15, 2021.
The Covid-19 toll increased to 1,688 in Bihar on April 16, 2021, with 13 new deaths being recorded in the state in last 24 hours including 4 in Patna, 3 in Banka, 2 in Bhagalpur, 1 each in Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, East Champaran, and Gaya. With it, the toll climbed to 490 in Patna, 98 in Bhagalpur, 71 in Gaya, 56 in East Champaran, 55 in Muzaffarpur, 37 in Samastipur, and 28 in Banka.
Meanwhile, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state at a high level meeting at Old Secretariat. The CM stressed on wearing of masks and washing of hands frequently besides maintaining physical distance. Nitsih directed the officials to give special attention to districts reporting spike in Covid cases. Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan has convened an all-party meeting on April 17, 2021, to discuss the Covid situation and take appropriate decision in the light of consensus at the meeting.
