Buxar : Sunita Devi, daughter of Dinesh Pandey of Kudara Bazaar in Kaimur District in South Bihar, was killed at her in-laws’ place under Buxar Muffasil police station (PS) in Buxar District, allegedly for dowry. The body was found near Chausa-Bare Mor under Buxar Muffasil police station on April 16, 2021, morning, but her in-laws escaped.
Police brought the body over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Sunita Devi, wife of Sunil Pandey of Chausa Bare Mor, in Buxar district. An FIR was lodged with Buxar Muffasil police station against husband and in-laws of the deceased. Police are investigating the matter and also conducting raids to arrest the named accused.
SHO, Buxar Muffasil police station, said that Sunita Devi, daughter of Dinesh Pandey of Kudara Bazaar in Kaimur District, was married to Sunil Pandey, son of late Mukhtar Pandey of Chausa Bare Mor about six years ago. Her in-laws had demanded Rs 9 lakh in dowry claiming the bridegroom was an engineer though he was not an engineer. The marriage was solemnised after paying Rs 9 lakh. After the marriage, Sunil Pandey demanded a car but this time his demand was not fulfilled. When his demand was not fulfilled, Sunita Devi was tortured. Sunil Pandey had brought Sunita Devi back from his in-laws’s place two days before the Holi.
The brother of the deceased said that he was informed on April 15, 2021, that Sunita Devi was seriously ill and when he reached her house, he found her dead on April 16, 2021, morning. He said that mark around the neck of the deceased showed that she was strangulated to death or she committed suicide.
