Patna : Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 3 wickets in the 7th match of IPL 2021 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, as all-rounder David Miller scored 62 in 43 balls hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes while all-rounder Chris Morris scored an unbeaten 36 in 18 balls hitting 4 sixes.
Replying to Delhi Capital’s 147/8 in 20 overs with captain Rishabh Pant (wk) scoring 51 in 32 balls with 9 fours, RR scored 150/7 in 19.4 overs with Chris Morris hitting 2 sixes in the last over bowled by all-rounder Tom Curran. RR needed 12 runs in the last over and Morris scored 14 runs. RR had won the toss and opted to bowl. RR were 42/5 after 9.2 overs but Miller turned the match on its head with his explosive batting. Miller and Rahul Tewatia (19) added 48 runs for the 6th wicket. Tewatia fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada making it 90/6.
Miller fell to fast bowler Avesh Khan for 62 making it 104/7 and it appeared that RR were in deep trouble. But, Chris Morris changed the course of the match with his electrifying knock. Morris and Jaydev Unadkat (11 not out) added 46 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 8th wicket. Avesh Khan, 24, took 3/32 in 4 overs while Kagiso Rabada took 2/30.
