Ara : Some armed miscreants shot dead a farmer at village Siarua under Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur District on April 7, 2021, late evening, when he was sitting at the gate of his house. The deceased was identified as Narad Mahto, 48, son of Ram Govind Mahto of village Siarua. He also worked as private driver and was on leave for the last two days.
Later, police brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A named FIR was lodged with Jagdishpur police station on the statement of Bashishth Mahto, cousin brother of the deceased, against Umesh Kumar, Mukhia; Sunny, Khusharu, and Deepak. Police arrested the Mukhia Umesh Kumar and are conducting raids to arrest the remaining named accused.
Jagdishpur SDPO Shyam Kishore Ranjan said that Narad Mahto and Mukhia Umesh Kumar had a tiff over election related issues six months ago. Narad Mahto was also a witness in a case against Mukhia Umesh Kumar and the latter had allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. The miscreants had done recce in the afternoon on April 7, 2021, and in the late evening when Narad Mahto was sitting at the gate of his house, they pumped two bullets into his chest killing him on spot.
