Sasaram : After issuance of Covid-19 guidelines leading to closure of schools, colleges, and coaching institute, hundreds of students got agitated and went on rampage at Sasaram Post Office and Gorakshini Bazaar in Rohtas District on April 5, 2021. The entire area turned into a battle field for about four hours since morning. The protesters entered Sasaram Collectorate campus and set ablaze passengershed and also damaged some government vehicles. They also pelted police personnel with stones in which some cops including SHO, Sasaram Town police station (PS), Kamakhya Narayan Singh, and some press reporters were injured.

Police had to fire tearsgas shells to disperse the students. Rohtas DM Dharmendra Kumar and SP Ashish Bharati rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The entire area was cordoned off and heavy police force is camping there. Over a dozen students were arrested in connection with the incident.

The students said that all activities were going on as usual. The Prime Minister, Home Minister, and others are holding rallies and meetings in which lakhs of people participate but only schools, colleges and coaching institutes were closed in view of Coronavirus pandemic.

Rohtas DM Dharmendra Kumar and SP Ashish Bharati said that they are trying to identify the trouble makers or rowdies through video footage and they would also assess as to how the coaching centre owners called the students violating the Covid-19 guidelines and added the guilty would be taken to task.
