New Delhi : Under the influence of strong lower level southwesterlies winds from the Bay of Bengal, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning at isolated places are very likely over Northeast India during March 29- April 2, 2021, with maximum activity on March 30 & 31, 2021. Isolated heavy falls on March 29 & April 1 and isolated heavy to very heavy falls on March 30 & 3 are very likely over south Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. Isolated heavy falls are likely over Arunachal Pradesh on April 1, 2021.
It may cause landslides and inundation of low-lying areas at some places over south Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram during March 30 – April 1, 2021, according to a PIB release.
Impact expected : Strong winds may damage plantation, horticulture and standing crops. Strong winds may injure people and cattle at open places.
Action suggested :Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible.
Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees.
Do not lie on concrete floors and do not lean against concrete walls.
Unplug electrical/ electronic appliances.
Immediately get out of water bodies.
Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity.
Farming operations may be suspended during the event.
