Patna : A total of 40.715 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,16,86,796 cases in the country at 8 am on March 23, 2021, a drop of 6,236 cases over the previous day. On the other hand, a total of 29,785 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in last 24 hours in India taking the tally to 1,11,81,253 in the country on March 23, 2021, an increase of 8,605 in last 24 hours.  The active cases (3,45,377) on March 23, 2021, accounted for 2.96% of the total cases  (1,16,86,796), an increase of 10,731 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,16,86,796 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 1,11,81,253 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) further dropping to 95.67% on March 23, 2021. India has tested 23,54,13,233 samples so far including 9,67,459 samples on March 22, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 4,84,94,594 people have been vaccinated so far in India including 32,53,095 beneficiaries on March 22, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,60,166 in India on March 23, 2021, with 199 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 58 in Maharashtra, 58 in Punjab, 12 in Kerala, 12 in Chhattisgarh, 10 in Karnataka, 10 in Tamilnadu, 7 in Delhi, 5 in Rajasthan, 4 in Gujarat, 3 in Haryana, 3 in Himachal Pradesh, 3 in Telengana, 2 in Madhya Pradesh, 2 in West Bengal, 2 in Andhra Pradesh, 2 in Bihar, 1 in Uttar Pradesh, and 1 in Jharkhand. India had recorded 212 new deaths on March 22, 2021.
