Buxar : Two brothers lynched their cousin brother at Munim Chowk near the office of the Buxar SP under Buxar Town police station (PS) on March 15, 2021, late evening, for capturing a shop. Later, police arrested the two brothers in this connection and sent them to jail after lodging an FIR.
SHO, Buxar Town PS, said that Om Babu Gupta 51, had a sweetmeat shop at Munim Chowk. On March 15, 2021, evening, his cousin brothers Gyanesh and Ritesh along with their woman folk entered the sweetmeat shop and got embroiled with Om Babu Gupta over capturing of the shop. They assaulted Om Babu Gupta injuring him seriously. He was rushed to the Buxar Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. Police rushed to the spot and arrested Gyanesh and Ritesh and sent them to jail after interrogation.
In protest against the murder, the locals went on rampage on March 16, 2021, and blocked the road near Munim Chowk. The protesters people set ablaze several motorcycles and paralysed the movement of vehicles for about three hours. The people strongly protested against dilly dallying attitude of police officials alleging had Om Babu Gupta been taken to hospital on time, his life could have been saved.
