Patna : New Zealand (NZ) annihilated Pakistan by an innings and 176 runs in 2nd test at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, NZ, on Day 4 on January 6, 2021, as fast medium bowler Kyle Jamieson took 6/48 in 20 overs while fast medium bowler Trent Boult took 3/43 in 18.4 overs to bundle out the visitors for 186 in their second innings. NZ captain Kane Williamson also took 1/16 in 3 overs. NZ won the two-match test series 2-0 registering their 8th straight home series win becoming World No 1 test team.

NZ’s new bowling sensation Kyle Jamieson, 26, who had taken 5/69 in 21 in Pakistan’s first innings, was named Player Of The Match for taking 11 wickets in 2nd test. NZ captain Kane Williamson, who scored 238 in 2nd test, his 4th double ton and 24th overall in test matches, was named Player Of The Series.

Resuming at their overnight score of 8/1, Pakistan collapsed to be all out for 186 in 81.4 overs in their 2nd innings with Azhar Ali, who had scored 93 in Pakistan’s first innings, and debutant spinner Zafar Gohar scoring 37 each while opener Abid Ali scored 26. Pakistan captain Mohd Rizwan fell to Jamieson for 10. Pakistan had scored 297 in their first innings

NZ had declared their first innings at 659/6 with captain Kane Williamson scoring 238, Henry Nicholls scoring 157, his 7th test ton, and Daryl Mitchel scoring an unbeaten 102, his maiden test ton.
