Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raid at a house at Dulaur Tola Semraon village under Charpokhari police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar on January 2, 2021, evening, and seized 9 quintal of Ganja and 5,004 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) packed in 140 cartons. Police also arrested two Ganja and liquor smugglers.

Two separate FIRs under the Prohibition and Excise Act and NDPS Act have been lodged by Charpokhari police station against them in this connection.

Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai, talking to mediapersons on January 2, 2021, late evening, said that he received  information that Ganja and IMFL have been kept in a three-storey building at Dulaur Tola Semraon village under Charpokhari PS.. He immediately formed a police team under SHO, Charpokhari PS, Subodh Prasad, and the Circle Officer (CO) Birendra Prasad.

The police team conducted raid at half constructed three- storey building of Amrendra Kumar Singh alias BP Mandal at Dulaur Tola Semraon village and recovered 5,004 bottles of IMFL packed in 140 cartons worth about Rs. 12 lakh, 937 kg of Ganja worth about Rs. 35 lakh from the underground floor of the building. Police also seized two cars, six motorcycles.

Police also arrested two Ganja and liquor smugglers : Mansoor Alam alias Noor Alam of Babandiha village under Siswan police station in Siwan district, and Uma Shankar Singh of Jokata village under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district. Noor Alam is said to be the driver of the vehicle while Uma Shankar Singh is said to be local supplier.

The SP stated that the arrested smugglers are members of an inter-state gang of Ganja and IMFL and added that the present consignment was brought from Odhisa. Noor Alam had brought the consignment and Uma Shankar Singh was to supply them to different areas. He added that  police are interrogating the smugglers to know as to whom the consignment was to be delivered and also to gather more information about the gang.
