New Delhi : India recorded just 19,556 Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours taking the tally of cases recorded so far in the country to 1,00,75,116 cases at 8 am on December 22, 2020. In sharp contrast, 30,376 Covid-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in last 24 hours in India taking the tally to 96,36,487 on December 22, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (2,92,518) by a stupendous margin of 93,43,969.

The number of active cases have dropped below 3 lakh after several months and now account for only 2.9% of the total Covid-19 cases recorded till date, a drop of 11,121 cases in last 24 hours.

Of the 1,00,75,116 Covid-19 cases recorded so far in India, altogether 96,36,487 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate (RR) being 95.65%. The country has tested 16,31,70,557 samples so far including 10,72,228 samples on December 21, 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The Covid-19 toll rose to 1,46,111 in India on December 22, 2020, with 301 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 55 in Maharashtra, 41 in West Bengal, 27 in Delhi, 27 in Kerala, 18 in Chhattisgarh, 16 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Uttarakhand, 12 in Tamilnadu, 11 in Punjab, 11 in Haryana, 9 in Rajasthan, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 9 in Himachal Pradesh, 7 in Gujarat, 7 in Karnataka, 6 in Bihar,  3 in J&K, 2 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1 in Jharkhand. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.45% in the country on December 22, 2020.  India had recorded 333  new deaths on December 21, 2020.

COVID-19 death toll in India on December 22, 2020, was : Maharashtra (48,801), Tamilnadu (11,995), Karnataka (12,016), Delhi (10,304), Andhra Pradesh (7,078), Uttar Pradesh (8,212), West Bengal (9,401), Gujarat (4,241), Madhya Pradesh (3,490), Rajasthan (2,626),  Punjab (5,212), Telengana (1,518), J&K (1,844), Haryana (2,832), Bihar (1,358), Odisha (1,839), Jharkhand (1,011), Assam (1,020), Uttarakhand (1,426), Kerala (2,843), Chhattisgarh (3,199), Puducherry (627), Goa (723), Tripura (380), Chandigarh (310), Andaman & Nicobar (62), Himachal Pradesh (885), Ladakh (125), Manipur (337), Nagaland (73), Meghalaya (134), Arunachal Pradesh (56), Sikkim (124), Mizoram (7), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
