Ara : Some unidentified miscreants shot at and injured a married woman at Komal Tola village under Narayanpur police station in Bhojpur District in South Bihar around midnight on November 2, 2020, when she was sleeping in her room though. She was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctors later referred her to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in view of her critical condition.
The injured has been identified as Asha Devi, wife of Harendra Kumar Singh of Komal Tola under Narayanpur police station. Extortion (Rangdari) is said to be the cause behind the incident. Police also seized a mobile phone of the miscreants from the spot. An FIR has been lodged with Narayanpur police station in this connection and police are investigating the matter.
Harendra Kumar Singh said that some persons had demanded ‘Rangdari’ of Rs 10 lakh from him on his mobile phone on September 14, 2020, with a threat to kill all his family members if he failed to give the amount but he ignored the call. The miscreants again demanded Rs. 2 lakh rangdari on mobile phone threatening him with dire consequences. He again did not yield to the demand.
Harendra added that he along with his wife was sleeping in a room on November 2, 2020, at his house when some armed miscreants fired through the window of the room around midnight and the bullet hit his wife in the back side of her head injuring her though he escaped. Family members tried to catch the miscreants but they escaped under the cover of darkness though a mobile phone fell on the ground which bis family members recovered and handed it over to police.
