Patna : Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) crushed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 8 wickets in the 46th match of IPL 2020 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, UAE, on October 26, 2020, late night, with opener Mandeep Singh scoring an unbeaten 66 with 8 fours and 2 sixes and Chris Gayle scoring 51 in 29 balls hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Replying to KKR’s 149/9 in 20 overs, KXIP scored 150/2 in 18.5 overs. KXIP won the toss but opted bowl.
It was KXIP’s 6th win in 12 matches and they have now 12 points. For KKR, it was their 6th loss in 12 matches and they too have 12 points. But, KXIP have a slightly better Net Run Rate.
Mandeep and Gayle added 100 runs for the 2nd wicket. Earlier, openers Lokesh Rahul and Mandeep had added 47 runs for the 1st wicket. Lokesh Rahul fell to spinner Varun Chakravarthy for 28 in 25 balls with 4 fours. Gayle fell to fast bowler Lockie Ferguson for 51. KXIP have won all the matches ever since Gayle has started figuring in the Playing XI. It was KXIP’s 5th win on the trot.
