Ara : Some unidentified armed persons killed a former Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) President with an axe when she was sleeping at village Nonaur under Hasan Bazaar Police Outpost around midnight on October 25, 2020.
Police recovered the body and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Rajendra Upadhayaya, 62, son of late Siddhnath Upadhayaya of village Nonaur. Land dispute is said to be cause behind the murder. An FIR has been lodged with Hasan Bazaar Police Outpost in this connection and police are investigating the matter.
SHO, Hasan Bazaar Police Outpost, said that grand-daughter of Rajendra Upadhayaya was married in Pakari locality under Nawada police station, Ara. All family members had come to Ara to attend a ceremony and Rajendra Upadhayaya was at his house with his grandson Golden. After taking supper, he was sleeping with his grandson when some unidentified persons attacked him with an axe killing him on the spot on October 25, 2020, and escaped.
When one of his sons returned from Vindhyachal, he found body of his father lying in a pool of blood in the room and informed police. Police recovered the body and also seized the axe lying at some distance from the place of occurrence. Chandrersh Kumar, son-in-law (damad) of the deceased, said that land dispute is likely to be the cause behind the incident.
