Patna : Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, 74, died on October 8, 2020, in Delhi. Paswan, the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) patron and a Rajya Sabha Member , had undergone a heart surgery at a hospital here a few days ago. He was admitted to a private hospital here for several weeks. He had been in active politics for more than five decades and was one of the country’s towering Dalit leaders.
His son Chirag Paswan tweeted “Papa…you are not in this world today but I know no matter where you are, you will always be with me. Miss you papa.”
Bihar Governor Fagu Chauhan while mourning Paswan said that he had held several portfolios at the centre including Railways Ministry. Ram Vilas Paswan was very popular in every section of the society, he said.
Bihar CM and JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar while expressing his profound shock and grief over the death of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that it was an irreparable to the Indian politics. Describing Paswan as a popular leader, Nitish said that it was a personal loss loss to him.
State JD(U) and BJP leaders have mourned Ram Vilas Paswan. Bihar JD(U) President Bashistha Narain Singh said that the country had lost a Socialist stalwart in Ram Vilas Paswan’s death. Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that the country had lost a top leader and statesman.
