Patna : Electing to bat after winning the toss, Mumbai Indians (MI) scored 193/4 in 20 overs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 20th match of IPL 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, with Suryakumar Yadav scoring an unbeaten 79 in 47 balls hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes while all-rounder Hardik Pandya remained 30 not out in 19 balls with 2 fours and a six.

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya added 75 runs in only 38 balls in their unbroken partnership for the 5th wicket. Suryakumar Yadav hit fast bowler Jofra Archer for a six on the 5th ball of the 19th over after being hit on the head on the previous ball. Jofra Archer leaked 15 runs in that over, his fourth. It was Suryakumar Yadav’s first fifty this IPL. MI scored 19 runs in 18th over, 15 runs in 19th over, and 17 runs in the 20th over – 51 runs in 3 overs.

MI began well with openers Rohit Sharma (captain) and Quinton de Kock (qdk) adding 49 runs for the first wicket. Qdk fell to fast medium bowler Kartik Tyagi for 23 in 15 balls with 3 fours and a six making it 49/1. Rohit Sharma fell to spinner Syreyas Gopal for 35 in 23 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes and it was 88/2. Ishan Kishan fell to  Shreyas Gopal for a duck and it was 88/3. Gopal got 2 wickets in 2 balls. Krunal Pandya fell to Jofra Archer for 12 in 17 balls with 1 six and it was 117/4. After the departure of Rohit Sharma, the scoring rate of MI slowed down considerably but picked in last 4 overs.

In reply, RR were 5/1 after 1.1 over.
