Patna : Third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, crashed out of the Italian Open 2020 suffering a shock second round defeat at the hands of unseeded Jannik Sinner, 19, Italy, at Foro Italico, Rome, Italy, on September 16, 2020, night. Sinner stunned Tsitsipas 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 in men’s singles  to enter Round of 16 of the tournament.

Fast rising Sinner won 7 break points to by Tsitsipas, who committed 6 double faults to 1 by the former. The Italian won 105 points in the match to 77 by the Greek. Sinner won 7 games in a row in the match to 4 by Tsitsipas. The Greek though fired 5 Aces in the match to 1 by the Italian. Tsitsipas had lost to Borna Coric, 23, Croatia, in the third round of US Open recently.

Fifteenth seed Grigor Dimitrov, 29, Bulgaria, crushed Yoshihito Nishioka, 24, Japan, 6-1, 6-0 winning 5 break points and 7 games in a row to enter Round of 16. Dimitrov won 60 points in the match to 26 by Nishioka. Dimitrov will face Sinner in Round of 16 on September 18, 2020.
