Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia,4th seed Matteo Berrettini, 24, Italy, and unseeded Marin Cilic, 31, Croatia, and Stefano Travaglia, 28, Italy, marched into the 3rd round of Italian Open 2020 at Foro Italico, Rome, Italy, on September 16, 2020.

Djokovic brushed aside Salvatore Caruso, 27, Italy,  6-3, 6-2 in 2nd round winning 3 break points and also 3 games in a row. Djokovic won 65 points in the match 45 by Caruso. The Serbian, who has won Italian Open singles title four times,  served 4 Aces to 3 by the Italian. Both the players committed 2 double faults each.

Berrettini, who had reached Round Of 16 at US Open recently, beat Fedrerico Coria, 28, Argentina, 7-5, 6-1 to enter the 3rd round. Berrettini won 4 break points in the match to 1 by Coria. He also fired 7 Aces to just 1 by Coria. The Italian won 5 games in a row to 2 by the Argentine. The Italian won 71 points to 47 by Coria.

Cilic upset 6th seed David Goffin, 29, Belgium, 6-2, 6-2 in 2nd round winning 4 break points in the match and also 5 games in a row. Cilic, the 2014 US Open Champion, won 59 points to 35 by Goffin, who had reached Round of 16 at US Open recently. The Croatian fired 8 Aces in the match to 2 by the Belgian, who committed 2 double faults.

Unseeded Travaglia beat Borna Coric, 23, Croatia, 7-6, 7-5 to enter 3rd round. Coric had reached QFs at US Open last week. The Italian fired 9 Aces in the match to 7 by the Croatia. The Italian won 4 break points to 3 by Coric. Travaglia won 87 points to 80 by the Croatia.  Travaglia will face Berrettini in next round.
