Ara : Police have arrested Superintendent, Ara Remand Home, Sudarshan Sharma, for allegedly outraging the modesty of a lady employee of Jai Prakash Narayan Airport, Patna, for months together. Sharma is being quizzed.
A lady employee at Jai Prakash Narayan Airport, Patna, had lodged a named FIR with Women’s Police Station, Ara, against the Superintendent, Ara Remand Home, Sudarshan Sharam, charging him with outraging her modesty for months. The FIR was lodged at the direction of Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar. Police arrested Superintendent Sudarshan Sharma, son of Shubhkaran Sharma, and were quizzing him on July 29, 2020.
Police brought the woman over to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination and will produce her before an Ara Court to get her statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.
SHO, Ara Woman Police Station, Kanchan Kumari, quoting the FIR, said that a woman from Bhagalpur in Bihar worked at the Airport in New Delhi. She was transferred to Jai Prakash Narayan Airport, Patna, in January 2020, and lived at a girls’ hostel at Danapur. After her posting at Jai Prakash Narayan airport, Patna, Sudarshan Sharma, who is also a resident of Habibpur Sharma Toli in Bhagalpur and whom she knew since her childhood, started visiting her at Patna. Sudarshan Sharma is at present posted at the Remand Home, Ara, in Bhojpur district. The woman also used to go to his house to teach his brother at Patna.
Since January 2020, she was in constant contact with Sudarshan Sharma. After lockdown, her hostel was closed and so she faced problem. She narrated her problem to the Superintendent, Ara Remand Home, who misled her saying that no train was going to Bhagalpur and brought her to his residence at Ibrahim Nagar under Ara town police station on March 20, 2020, from Patna where he outraged her modesty and also videographed the same. Sharma allegedly blackmailed her and continued outraging her modesty showing the nude video. He also promised to marry her but later reneged on it. She talked to Shubhkaran Sharma, father of Sudarshan Sharma, at Patna but he shooed her out of the house.
The SHO said that the girl was sent to Bhagalpur on May 13, 2020, and Sudarshan Sharma stopped talking to her. She came to Ara on June 5, 2020, and complained the police. When police started investigating the matter, Sudarshan Sharma asked for 10 days’ relief but after two days, he called her and threatened her and his family with dire consequences. She informed police about it and a named FIR was lodged with the Women’s police station against the Remand Home Superintendent at the direction of the Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar. Sudarshan Sharma could not be contacted for his comment on the issue.
