Sitamarhi : Respite from rain during last 24 hours gave some relief to the people from floods in Sitamarhi district on July 26, 2020,  though major rivers are still flowing above danger marks. The Bagmati, Lalbakeya, Jhim, Rato, Marha, Marar, the Adhawara Group and Lakhandei rivers are posing fresh dangers to the district.

Sursand, Parihar, Dumra, Bajpatti, Choraut, Bokhara, Suppi, Riga, Belsand, Runnisaidpur, Bairgania, and Bathanaha blocks are reeling under flood. Three community kitchens are catering the needs of thousand flood affected villagers under Sonbarsa and Parihar blocks.
Road connectivity between Sitamarhi-Sursand, Sitamarhi-Parihar, Sitamarhi-Sheohar, Lagma-Bhasepur, and Singrahia-Baduri have not been restored as flood water has overtopped them  Sonbarsa block headquarter has been partially inundated by the water of river Jhim whereas Rato river is posing danger at Bittha Mor on Indo-Nepal border. River Lakhandei has inundated several localities in Sitamarhi town.
Sadar Civil SDO Kumar Gaurav and SDPO Kumar Veer  Dhirendra are working very hard to shift the flood affected people taking shelter at NH77 near Runnisaidpur to several school buildings.
Sitamarhi DM Abhilasha Kumari Sharma said that there is no dearth of essential commodities in the district. The disaster management department is fully geared up to face any challenge, the DM added.
