Ara : With the arrest of main accused, Bhojpur police claimed to have cracked the mystery behind murder of reporter Rakesh Goswami. Police also recovered the traditional weapon used in the murder and Rs 23,000 snatched from Rakesh but his mobile phone is still traceless.
The arrested miscreant was identified as Dipu Kumar Yadav of village Bhadeya under Dhobaha police outpost in Bhojpur district who admitted his involvement in the murder. Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that a reporter Rakesh Goswami was killed near Karada-Basantpur village under Dhobaha police station on July 15 when he was returning to his native village from Ara in the evening. An FIR was lodged with Dhobaha police outpost in this regard. The SP said that he had formed a police team under Ara SDPO Ajay Kumar and the team following mobile surveillance arrested Dipur Kumar Yadav of Bhadeha village and others on suspicion.
The SP further said that Dipu Kumar Yadav of Bhadeha village and his co-villager Rakesh Goswami were friends and frequently visited each other’s house. Meanwhile, Rakesh Goswami came in contact with the sister of Dipu Kumar Yadav. Dipu Kumar Yadav worked in Surat and had come to his village during lockdown. One day, Dipu Kumar Yadav saw both of them together and lost his temper. He planned to eliminate Rakesh Goswami. He switched off his mobile on July 14 so that no one could get the trace of his mobile and killed Rakesh Goswami in the late evening the next day with a sharpedged weapon near Karada-Basantpur village when he was returning to his native village and also snatched Rs 23,000 cash and his mobile.
The SP said that Rakesh Goswami had called for the last time to his friend saying that Dipu Kumar Yadav had gheraoed him when he was returning home. Police took out the CDR of the mobile of Rakesh Goswami and arrested Dipu Kumar Yadav. During interrogation, Dipu Kumar admitted that he had killed Rakesh Goswami as he was in love with his sister.
