Sitamarhi : Respite in rainfall during last 24 hours has resulted in slow rise in water levels of major rivers in Sitamarhi district on July 22, 2020. Six blocks of the district: Sonbarsa, Parihar, Bathanaha, Belsand, Runnisaidpur, and Bajpatti, are affected due to flood in Adhawara group of rivers, Lakhadei, and Manushamara.

The Bhittha OP at Indo-Nepal border point has been inundated by swollen Marar and Hardi rivers. The Jhim riverĀ  has inundated Sonbarsa block town. The road connectivity between Sitamarhi-Sursand, Sitamarhi- Parihar, and Sitamarhi- Sheohar have been snapped with flood water overtopping the roads.
The rivers like Bagmati and Lalbakeya have been showing receding trends near village Dheng and Bairgania respectively since July 22, 2020, morning, but still posing dangers on the embankments.
Sitamarhi DM Abhilasha Kumari Sharma said the district administration is in alert mode and constant vigil is on.
