Ara : A married woman was strangulated to death just for a gold chain at her in-laws’ place at Nadhi village under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district on July 14, 2020, morning.
The deceased was identified as Lalita Devi, 20, wife of Manu Yadav of Nadhi village. Her in-laws locked the house and escaped from the village after the incident. Police recovered the body and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-tmortem. A named FIR has been lodged with Sahar police station against the husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law of the deceased in this connection. Police are investigating the matter.
SHO, Sahar police station, quoting the FIR, said that Dudhnath Singh of Baghuaai village under Narayanpur police station in Bhojpur district got his daughter Lalita Devi, 20, to Manu Yadav, son of Nand Ji Yadav of Nadhi village under Sahar police station, on June 11, 2019, and ever since her in-laws were allegedly torturing her merely for a gold chain and when their demand was not fulfilled, they strangulated Lalita Devi to death. Another woman of the village informed the deceased’s parents on mobile about the incident.
