Patna : There is no restriction on movement of freight vehicles across Bihar. Cargo vehicles would operate as usual, said Bihar Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal here on July 12, 2020. Agarwal said that in view of increasing number of Corona infected people
in Patna and some other districts, lockdown has been imposed again for a few days by DMs concerned.
Agarwal said that during this period, the drivers will be plying cargo vehicles following COVID-19 guidelines. There would be no check on vehicles transporting different goods, whether essential or non-essential, and construction materials, he said, adding that instructions have been given to all district officials to ensure that there is no obstruction in movement of freight vehicles and their loading/unloading should not be interrupted.
Agarwal said that one would have to follow traffic rules, wear masks, and maintain social distancing. He instructed policemen and
officials of Transport department not to stop movement of cargo vehicles. If any cargo vehicle is caught overloading, action will
be taken, he pointed out, adding that under no circumstances overloading will be allowed.
The Transport Secretary said that there is no shortage of essential commodities. Transportation of food items and essential commodities is constantly being reviewed, he said, adding that there is no restriction on transportation of food items. Agarwal said that to facilitate supply of food materials in the state, operation of freight vehicles has been continued. There is no restriction on movement of building materials either, he said.
Agarwal said that there is no restriction on operation of rail and air services. He said that passenger vehicles will operate following the
instructions of DMs concerned. There is no need for pass for passengers travelling to their destination, he said, adding that their
tickets would be treated as pass.
