Patna: For safe transportation and checking road accidents, 500 bus stops will be constructed in Bihar’s rural areas. In first phase,
a sum of over Rs 3.23 crore has been allocated to different districts by Bihar Road Safety Council for construction of 170 bus stops.
Ssate Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal stated that to ensure road safety bus stops are being constructed in rural areas. After
construction of bus stops, public transport vehicles will stop at scheduled stoppages, he said adding that the passengers would not have to
stand under Sun and waiting for bus. Agarwal said that there would be provision of cemented chair for sitting and sheds will also be available. He said that attractive wall paintings at all newly constructed bus stops for road safety awareness.Construction of bus stops has already started at panchayat level in 16 districts, he added.
It may be recalled here that at present, there are not enough bus stops in rural areas hence buses do not stop at designated places causing traffic problems with possibility of road accidents. Construction of structure at bus stoppage is to be done at appropriate
places along roads of Road Construction Department. A bus stop will be constructed on 250 square feet of land. The cost of construction each bus stop would be Rs 1.90 lakh.
Altogether 19 bus stops would be constructed in Patna district. They include Phulwarisharif and Sampatchak under Patna Sadar, Fatuha,
Khushrupur, and Daniyanwa under Patna City, Danapur, Bihta, and Naubatpur under Danapur, Paliganj, Vikram, and Dulhin Bazaar under n Paliganj, Punpun, Dhansarua, and Masaurhi under Masaurhi, and Bakhtiyarpur, Athmalgola, Barh, Mokama and Pandarak. For this, BDOs concerned have been made executive agency for selection and construction works of bus stops.
In districts, target has been fixed to construct 29 bus stops in Darbhanga, 24 in Muzaffarpur, 23 each in East Champaran and Madhubani,
20 each in Gaya and Samastipur, 19 each in Darbhanga, West Champaran, Saran and Patna, 17 each in Siwan and Vaishali, 15 bus stands
in Nalanda, 14 each bus stands in Rohtas, Gopalganj, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Katihar and Begusarai, 13 each in Bhojpur and Araria, three in Sheikhpura, five each in Jehanabad and Lakhisarai, 9 each in Kaimur, Saharsa and Jamui, six in Munger, and seven in Kishanganj.
