Patna : The RJD, the  main opposition party in Bihar, suffered a major setback in the state on June 23, 2010, when five of its sitting MLCs joined the ruling JD(U). Bihar Assembly polls are due in October-November 2020.

The RJD is now left with only three members in Bihar  legislative council. The JD(U), on the other hand, has now 21 members in Bihar legislative council and has become the single largest party in the 75 member House. THe BJP has 16 Members in the Upper House.,

The RJD MLCs joining the JD(U) are : Radha Charan Shah, Sanjay Prasad, Dilip Rai, Md Qamar Alam, and Ranvijay Kumar Singh.
