Chas (Jharkhand) : Under the guidance of Delhi Public School Society-Human Resource Development Center (DDPS-HRDC), New Delhi, DPS Chas in Bokaro District conducted a week long Webinar Workshop for the teachers on the school campus which concluded on June 23, 2020. The workshop was conducted to guide and keep up to date the teachers to face the new challenges of the online teaching during Covid 19 pandemic.
Motivating the teachers, Chief Mentor of the school Dr Hemlata S Mohan, in her message, asked the teachers to equip themselves with the latest educational skills and face the challenges with smile on their faces. Dr Mohan also shared the achievements of the students – in the first stage of National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) in the maiden year of the school’s participation at this competitive examination and about the three District Toppers in Knowledge & Awareness Mapping Platform- National Assessment for Scientific Temperament & Aptitude (KAMP-NASTA). She appreciated the students, team of teachers, and parents for their diligence.
The topics taken up at the workshop were- Effective Tools and Skills of Online Teaching, Tools of Online Teaching, The Art of Story Telling & Effective Communication Skills conducted by Anamika Kumari, Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Jyotsna Kumari, Renu Kumari Sharma and Shilpi respectively.
Acting Principal Shailaja Jayakumar added anecdotes to illustrate the essence of being a teacher with three emphatic principles. She said it takes courage to be a teacher. One becomes a teacher by CHOICE not by CHANCE. A teacher must perennially READ to LEAD the learners towards exploring, inventing through curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. A teacher shares not just knowledge or information but also energy, emotions, thought and ideas and empowers the learner to accommodate to the changing scenario. She also illustrated on the importance of Competency Based Learning, Project Based learning and Art Integrated Education. The week long session trained and empowered the teachers to impart education in the best way possible during Covid-19 pandemic.
