Motihari : East Champaran SP Navin Chandra Jha has suspended Nawnit Kumar, SHO, Turkauliya police station (PS) , and Pankaj Kumar, ASI, Sugauli police station, for allegedly protecting liquor smugglers.
Acting on a tip off, ASP, motihari, Shaishaw Yadav along with other police officers conducted raid at Turkauliya police station building and after breaking the lock of latrine recovered 100 litres of countrywine. According to police sources, Turkauliya police had seized 100 litres of countrywine from a hutment at village Jaysingpur on June 15, 2020, but this seizure was not mentioned in the seizure-book of the police station.The seized liquor was kept in a locked latrine, the lock of which was broken in the presence of a magistrate.
Police have lodged an FIR with Turkauliya police station by police against SHO, Turkaulia PS, Nawnit Kumar, and his private driver Munnu Kumar under various sections.
In another development, East Champaran SP Jha placed under suspension Pankaj Kumar, ASI, Sugauli police station, after a video showing the ASI allegedly assuring a liquor smuggler of help in getting bail went viral. The SP said action would be taken against the ASI if the allegation against him is found true.
