New Delhi : Coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll surged to 4,971 in India at 8 am on May 30, 2020, with 265 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours. Maharashtra alone accounts for 2,098 Coronavirus deaths followed by Gujarat with 980 deaths. The number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 86,422 in the country.

In a very significant development, the number of Coronavirus patients cured/discharged in India also jumped to 82,369, an increase of 11,264 during last 24 hours. In Maharashtra , 26,997 patients have been cured/ discharged, followed 11,313 in Tamilnadu, 8,611 in Gujarat, and 7,846 in Delhi. The number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 86,422 in the country.

Coronavirus death toll break-up is : Maharashtra (2,098), Gujarat (980), Delhi (398), MP (334), West Bengal (302), UP (198), Rajasthan (184), Tamilnadu (154), Telengana (71), Andhra Pradesh (60), Karnataka (48), Punjab (42), J&K (28), Haryana (19), Bihar (15), Kerala (8), Odisha (7),  Jharkhand (5), Uttarakhand (5), Himachal Pradesh (5), Assam (4), Chandigarh (4), Chhattisgarh (1), and Meghalaya (1).
