Patna : Fifteen persons including seven from Madhepura, three from Saharsa, and two each from Supaul and Kishanganj tested positive to Coronavirus (COVID-19) on May 15, 2020, late night, taking the total to 1,033 in Bihar.
Meanwhile, Coronavirus death toll surged to 2,752 in India at 8 am on May 16, 2020, with 103 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours. Maharashtra alone accounts for 1,068 deaths followed by Gujarat with 606 deaths. MP has reported 239 deaths till date while West Bengal has reported 225 deaths due to Coronavirus. The death toll is 125 in Rajasthan, 123 in Delhi, 95 in UP, 71 in Tamilnadu, 48 in Andhra Pradesh, 36 in Karnataka, 34 in Telangana, 32 in Punjab, 11 each in J&K and Haryana, 7 in Bihar, 4 in Kerala, and 3 each in Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Jharkhand.
Altogether 30,152 patients have been cured/discharged till date in the country, an increase of 2,233 since May 15. The doubling rate has improved from 3.4 days in the pre-lockdown period to 12.9 days in the last week.
Of the 7 Madhepura cases, three were reported from Kumarkhand, two from Bihariganj, and one each from Madhepura Town and Murliganj. In Saharsa, two cases were reported from Kahra and one from Saharsa Basti. One case each was reported from Pratapganj and Basantpur in Supaul District in North Bihar. Two COVID-19 confirmed cases were reported from Kishanganj Tow too in Kishanganj District while one case was reported from Ara in Bhojpur District.
