Motihari : Bihar reported the third Coronavirus death on May 1, 2020, when a 54 year man Banjaria in East Champaran died at Nalanda Medical Colleges Hospital (NMCH), Patna. He had tested positive to Coronavirus and was admitted to NMCH.
Principal Secretary Health, Bihar Government, Sanjay Kumar, said the man was already a cancer patient and had returned from TMH, Mumbai, on April 20, 2020. He was admitted to NMCH on April 27, 2020. Principal Secretary Kumar said that he was a serious case of terminal oropharyngeal malingnancy ( mouth & throat cancer) and died due to cardiac arrest. Dr Nirmal Kumar Sinha, Superintendent, NMCH, too confirmed his death due to COVID-19.
East Champaran DM Shirshat Kapil Ashok while talking to this scribe said the body would be brought over to Jatawa, the native village of the deceased under Banjariya police station in the district.
The deceased along with two fellow villagers had retuned to Jatawa near Motihari by an ambulance from Mumbai on April 20, 2020, and all of them had tested positive to COVID-19. Two of them were quarantined while one was referred to NMCH as he was also suffering from cancer.
Itmay be mentioned here that five migrant labourers of East Champaran District in North Bihar had recently tested positive to COVID-19 of which one died on May 1, 2020, while 3 have fully recovered and tested negative. One positive case is under treatment.
