New Delhi : The number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed cases climbed to 35,043 in India on May 1, 2020, while the death toll increased to 1,152 in the country including 459 in Maharashtra, 214 in Gujarat, 137 in MP, 59 in Delhi, 58 in Rajasthan, 41 in UP, and 33 each in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh, and 22 in Karnataka. Bihar, Jharkhand, and Haryana have recorded 3 deaths each.
But, the most significant development is that the number of Coronavirus patients cured/discharged jumped to 9,064 in the country while the number of active cases stands at 25,148 in the country.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has stated that by May end there will be around one thousand Mandis joining the e-NAM platform for marketing of Agricultural produce. He was speaking at a function at Krishi Bhawan on May 1, 2020, where 200 new mandis were added to the e-NAM platform from 7 States. The Minister also witnessed via video conference live trading between mandis from Kurnool and Hubli in groundnuts and maize, according to a PIB release.
It is reiterated that for breaking the chain of transmission, it is important to follow hand hygiene like washing hands with soap and water or using sanitiser; to disinfect and regularly clean all frequently touched surfaces such as table-tops, chair handles, keyboards, mouse, mouse pad, etc.; everybody should wear a mask or face cover as appropriate; download the Corona tracker app “Arogya Setu” for self assessment of risk; and maintain physical distancing.
