Ara : A police constable was arrested on April 22, 2020, evening, from the Sakaddi Check-Post on Ara-Patna main road under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur District for releasing two-wheelers and four-wheelers allegedly after extracting money from their owners.

The arrested constable was identified as Mahabali Kumar of Aurangabad district. A named FIR was lodged by Koelwar police station against him. Bhojpur SP suspended Mahabali Kumar with immediate effect.

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that Check-Posts have been made at different places in Bhojpur district to check movement of vehicles during lockdown and slap fine on violators. He said that a Check-Ppost was also made at Sakaddi on Ara-Patna main road for the same reason and the SHO, Koelwar police station, was directed to conduct vehicle checking drive there and realised fine from the vviolators. The SHO had deputed Mahabali Kumar, a police constable, there for the purpose.

Meanwhile, a video showing Mahabali Kumar releasing vehicles after extracting Rs 100 to Rs 200 per vehicle went viral on social media. Taking it seriously, Bhojpur SP suspended Mahabali Kumar and also ordered for lodging a named FIR against him.
