Ara : Police on April 19, 2020, recovered body of a married woman from a well located on the outskirts of village Kamaria under Azimabad police station in Bhojpur district and brought it over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

The deceased was identified as Tetari Devi, wife of Pramod Yadav of village Fuladi under Sandesh police station in Bhojpur district. She was missing from her in-laws’ house since April 15, 2020. An FIR had been lodged by Sandesh police station in this connection on the statement of Vidyanand Yadav, brother of the deceased, and the police are investigating into the matter

SHO, Sandesh Police Station, quoting the FIR, station said that Tetari Devi, daughter of Vakil Yadav of Bhaluni village under Narayanpur police station in Bhojpur district, was married to Pramod Yadav, son of Sumir Yadav of Fuladi village in 2012 and had a daughter aged around two-and-a-half years, and a 1 year old son.

The SHO said that Tetari Devi’s in-laws allegedly used to torture her physically and mentally for dowry. Tetari Devi was missing since April 15, 2020, and all the members of her in-laws’ family are absconding. When the matter came to the knowledge Vidyanand Yadav, brother of the deceased, he  lodged an FIR against her husband and in-laws with Sandesh police station on April 16, 2020.  Meanwhile, the body of Tetari Devi was recovered from a well on the outskirts of village Kamaria under Azimabad police station.

The SHO said that some villagers saw body of a woman floating in a well on April 19 and informed police. He said that the Azimabad and Sandesh police rushed to the spot and fished out the body from the well. The SHO said that the some miscreants strangulated her to death and threw the body into the well to erase evidence.
