New Delhi : Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) death toll in USA shot up to 28,221 including 2,350 new deaths on April 17, 2020, while the number of confirmed cases jumped to 6,32,781 including 28,711new cases in the country, according to WHO Situation Report -88, COVID-19.
Coronavirus death toll in Italy, which had reported 1,68,941 confirmed cases till April 17 including 3,786 new cases, has soared to 22,172 including 525 new deaths. COVID -19 death toll in Spain, which accounted for 1,82,816 confirmed cases till April 17, has reached 19,130 including 551 new deaths. Coronavirus death toll in France had jumped to 17,899 including 753 new deaths on April 19.
China had reported 84,149 Coronavirus confirmed cases till April 17 while 4,642 persons had died due to this disease in the coun try including 1,290 new deaths. The Chinese authorities have informed WHO that as cases have declined in China and the strain on the healthcare system has eased, a multisectoral team was established in late March 2020 to do a comprehensive review of COVID-19 data in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
Information from a variety of sources was reviewed leading to duplicate cases being removed and missed cases added. Following this review, the total number of cases in Wuhan increased by 325 and the total number of deaths increased by 1,290, according to WHO Situation Report -88.
Meanwhile, Globally the total number of Coronavirus confirmed cases reached 20,74,529 while the death toll due to the disease jumped to 1,39,378 including 8,493 new deaths.
