Motihari: East Champaran SP Naveen Chandra Jha placed under suspension three police personnel including in-charge of Raghunathpur Police Outpost (OP) Sandeep Kumar on April 18, 2020, for beating a man in front of his two minor children on April 17, 2020. The man was riding a bike with his children during lockdown at Raghunathpur, Motihari.
SP Jha said that all three police personals had been line closed till inquiry into the allegations against them is completed. He said that DSP (Sadar) Motihari Arun Kumar Gupta has already been directed to inquire into the incident. Policemen were seen beating up bike and car owners and others for moving on streets and roads allegedly violating lockdown.
A video showing Incharge of Raghunathpur OP Sandeep Kumar and two other police personnel beating a man in front of his two kids in full public view went viral on social media. The media carried the story dubbing the act of the three cops as inhuman and against the Juvenile Justice Act.
Raghunathpur OP Incharge Sandeep Kumar said that the man used to come out on road with his children every alternative day during lock down. He said the police action before his children might force him to stay at home.
