Buxar : Police arrested 11 foreigners including 4 from Malaysia and 7 from Indonesia connected to Tablighi Jamaat from a mosque at New Bhojpur under Dumrao police station in Buxar district and confined them to Hotel Vishwamitra Vihar Quarantine Centre at Buxar though their pathological test for Coronavirus was found negative. Buxar police station sent all of them to jail on April 15, 2020.

Buxar SP Upendra Nath Verma said that he got information on March 28, 2020, that some persons allegedly having links with Tablighi Jamaat had come to a mosque at New Bhojpur under Dumraon police station. Police immediately swung into action and confined all the 11 foreigners to the quarantine centre at Hotel Vishwamitra Vihar at Buxar.

The SP said that all the foreigners had come to India on tourist visa but they violated the terms and conditions of the tourist visa and started proselytising their religion in the area from the mosque. The SP added that the foreigners neither informed the local police station nor the SP office regarding their arrival to Buxar hence police lodged named FIR against them under relevant sections of the IPC and produced them before a Buxar Court. Later, they are sent to jail at the direction of the court.
