Patna : The number of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed cases increased to six in Bihar, an eastern State of India,  on March 26, 2020, with two residents of Munger district of the state testing positive on the days. The figure includes one death.

Samples of 55 people who had come in contact with the man, who died due to COVID-19 recently at Patna, were collected and sent for examination. Two of them,  a 40-year-old-woman and a 12-year-old boy, tested positive for coronavirus, according to Pradip Das, Director, Rajendra Memorial Research Institute, Patna, the only testing laboratory for Covid-19 in Biha. Both the persons testing positive are relatives of the deceased, a 38 year-old man with travel history to Qatar, and lived at a house adjacent to his at Munger.

All 55 persons, who had come in contact with the man, were kept in home quarantine on the directions of health officials, who had reached Munger and collected the samples for testing. The two testing positive for COVID-19 will now be sent to a hospital in Bhagalpur for treatment.

Other COVID-19 confirmed cases in Bihar include three residents of Patna. Of them, a middleage woman, whose son had travelled to Italy recently, is admitted at AIIMS, Patna, while two others, one of whom had returned from Scotland and the other from Gujarat, are at Nalanda Medical College & Hospital, Patna.
