Woman commits suicide at in-laws’ place at Buxar village

Ara : A married woman Reena Devi committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan of her room at her in-laws’ place at village Uttampur under Rajpur police station in Buxar district on January 27, 2020, night.

Police brought the body over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. An FIR has been lodged with Rajpur police station against Reena’s husband Amit Kumar Ram and her father-in-law Srikant Ram on the statement of her father Deena Ram for dowry death and police are investigating into the matter. Family dispute is said to be the cause behind the incident.

SHO, Rajpur police station, Ranjeet Kumar Sinha said that Reena Devi, daughter of Deena Ram of village Kora under Kochas police station, was married to Amit Kumar Ram, son of Srikant Ram of Uttampur village under Rajpur police station in Buxar district, on May 10, 2019. On January 27, 2020, Deena Ram got information that his daughter was suffering from pain abdomen and when he reached Uttampur village, he found body of his daughter hanging to the ceiling fan, the SHO said. He alleged  that after killing her, her in-laws hanged the body to the ceiling fan to give the colour of suicide.

On the other hand, Reena’s in-laws said that when Amit Kumar Ram returned home from the market on January 27, 2020, evening, he had some tiff with his wife but later both went to bed and slept. Meanwhile, Reena Devi committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan. on January 28 morning, Amit started crying when she woke up and saw her wife hanging to the ceiling fan. The family members informed police and also Deena Ram, father of the deceased.
