Raxaul (East Champaran) : The medical teams on January 27, 2020, started screening  Chinese citizens and others coming India from Nepal at Raxaul ( East Champaran District) and Jogbani ( Araria ) Immigration offices on Indo Nepal border in view of the Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) which has broken out in China.

Dr Rizwan Ahmad , Civil Surgeon, East Champaran, said  that a team of medical staff  headed by Dr Sharad Chandra Sharma  is camping at Immigration office at Raxaul  border and  checking medically Chines citizens entering Indian territory from Nepal. Dr Sharma  said  that a  Chinese Woman  was  examined medically on January 27 at Raxaul Immigration  Checkpoint  but she did not have fever, cold  and respiratory  problem, and was allowed to enter  into Indian territory.  She was returning from Kathmandu and going to Bodh Gaya by Maitri Bus.

A 29 year old  girl student of Saran District in Noryt Bihar, who returned home from China last week, was admitted to   Chhapra Sadar Hospital on January 26, 2020, as she was suffering from fever and respiratory  problem. The doctors  suspected  her to be a patient of nCoV and referred her to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on January 27 for her test of  blood and  throat swab. Dr Mageshwar Jha, Civil Surgeo, Saran, said  there is no laboratory to test the same at Chhapra. This Student is doing her PhD  in Science in China.

Nepal, on January 24, 2020, confirmed  the first case of  nCoV in the country identifying the infected person as a Nepali student who had recently returned home from Wuhan city of China. He is doing his Ph D in Wuhan. He was hospitalised at Sukararaj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital of Kathmandu after suffering from respiratory problem. Dr  Hemant Chandra Ojha, Incharge of Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Kathmandu, said the hospital had sent his throat swab and blood to WHO laboratory at Hong Kong and it was found positive. The Immigration Office at Birgunj  in Nepal  on border  is also screening the  Chinese citizens  entering Nepal  through  Raxaul Immigration  office.
