Over 6 lakh people participate in Human Chain formation in Bhojpur

Ara : Over six lakh formed 430 km long Human Chain under 14 blocks in Bhojpur District to create awareness about ‘Jal JeevanHariyali’, Prohibition, against Child Marriage and Dowry, on January 19, 2020, amidst boycott of the event by the Contract Teachers Association and Bhojpur Mukhia Sangh.

School children in their uniform along with teachers holding placards and banner in their hands lined up in a row and raised slogans in favour of ‘Jal Jeevan Hariyali’, Prohibition, against Child marriage and dowry. Besides school children, officials, bank employees, coaching centre owners, doctors, headmasters of government and private schools, PDS dealers, NGOs like Lok Jagriti Ara, Geeta Mahila Uthan Samiti and others, Aaganwadi Sahayikas, Sevikas, Jeevika Didis, NCC, Scout and Guides members of Neharu Yuva Kendra, NSS, Youth clubs, intellectuals, social organisations and advocates also participated the event.

At historical Ramana Maidan, Human Chain was formed on the pattern of map of Bihar and green trees were shown inside the chain and artists performed several activities inside the human chain highlighting benefits of ‘Jal-Jeewan Hariyali’ and Pohibition.  Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha, SP Sushil Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner Anshul Agrawal and other senior officials were seen regulating the Human Chain at different places.

Human Chain was formed on the 160 km long main route and 270 sub-route earmarked for the purpose. At least 38 magistrates and 38 police officials along with heavy police force were deputed at 19 points. Though the district administration had made elaborate arrangement for a grand success of Human Chain formation yet it was broken at several points including at Ara, the District Headquarters. The DM congratulated people of the district for their cooperation in formation of Human Chain.
