Patna : Australia were 283/3 in 90 overs at stumps in their first innings in 3rd test against New Zealand (NZ) at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, Australia, on Day 1 on January 3, 2020, with their new run machine Marnus Labuschagne unbeaten on 130 in 210 ball hitting 12 fours and a six, his 4th test ton, and Matthew Wade batting on 22 in 30 balls with 2 fours and six. Australia won the toss.Australia lead the three-test series 2-0.

Labuschagne and Steven Smith added 156 runs for the third wicket. Smith fell to Colin de Grandhomme for 63 in 182 balls with 4 fours. OpenersĀ  David Warner and Joe Burns scored 45 and18 runs respectively. Burns fell to Grandhomme for 18 in 39 balls with 3 fours. Warner fell to Neil Wagner for 45 in 80 balls with 3 fours.
