Engineer shot dead, police recover body from Bhojpur village

Ara : Some unidentified armed miscreants shot dead a Civil Engineer Ravikant Singh, 26, son of Subodh Singh of village Panaal under Bihata police station in Patna district on October 28, 2019, evening.

Bhojpur police recovered the body from near Bangauti Canal at village Bahuara under Chauri police station and brought it to the Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. An FIR has been lodged with Chauri police station in this connection and police are investigating into the incident.

SHO, Chauri police station, said that Ravikant Singh had left for Patna from his native village on October 28 on his motorcycle to purchase some cloths for himself but some unidentified armed miscreants shot him dead and threw his body near Bangauti Canal at Bahuara village in Bhojpur district on October 28 evening. Police recovered the body on October 29. Police also recovered his motorcycle from the spot.

The SHO said that the deceased was a civil engineer and was allegedly in love with the daughter of a PACS office-bearer of the village. He said that the deceased was arrested and sent to jail in this regard and was released on bail some days ago.

The family members said that the deceased had gone to Patna but how Ravikant reached Bhojpur is not clear and demanded inquiry into the matter and arrest of the miscreants. They alleged said that the deceased had a tiff with some villagers earlier over his love affairs.
